Wild and Fruitful

Award-winning chef Jake Winter, from Keswick, works with a small team to create big flavours in Wild and Fruitful’s range of delicious jams, marmalades and chutneys. Based just up the coast in Maryport, they use a traditional open pan method, working with natural, fresh and locally sourced ingredients. Each preserve is made in small batches following recipes that have been refined over the last 20 years.

Cumbrian Tea and Coffee Company

Born and bred in West Cumbria, Mark Cant started the Cumbrian Tea and Coffee Co with one simple mission; to sell tasty, ethically sourced, environmentally friendly products at a reasonable price. The company uses a carefully selected blend of leaves from Kenya and Malawi to make its refreshing Ramblers’ Brew, all wrapped up in 100% recyclable and biodegradable packaging.

Bedrock Gin

Bedrock Gin began making classic gins of the highest quality over 10 years ago. Vince Wilkins, from Thornthwaite overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake, makes the original Bedrock Gin using a unique mix of botanicals distilled with kiln-dried Cumbrian oak bark. Award-winning flavours such as ‘Gooseberry’ and ‘Elderflower and Rhubarb’ have joined the line-up in recent years, offering a taste for every palate.

Pennington’s Spirits and Liqueurs

Mike Pennington was already well-known as the landlord of Burgundy’s Wine Bar, in Kendal, when he began experimenting with making a liqueur based on an old family recipe for the town’s famous mint cake. It proved so popular that he sold the pub to concentrate on running family business Pennington’s Spirits and Liqueurs, which now makes drinks incorporating a wide sweep of flavours from Bakewell tart to gingerbread.

Y-Tea of the Lake District

Thomas Cheung developed his fascination with tea at a young age and began Y-Tea from a small office in Cleator Moor, just on the edge of the Lake District, blending and packaging his products to sell at Keswick Market. Today his multi-award winning teas span flavours from red berry to Moroccan mint. Thomas has even opened his own cafe, which has quickly become a favourite with locals and visitors.

So, when the couple founded Solway Spirits, they set out to distill the most innovative and delicious gins and liqueurs they could imagine. Now, from their distillery on the rugged and windswept coast of the Solway Firth, they produce everything from crisp, clean, classic dry gins to funky flavours like apple caramel and rhubarb crumble.

Decorrum

All of our producers work hard, but Decorrum is made with the help of perhaps the most industrious grafter of them all; the humble honey bee. Developed in Manchester, Decorrum spiced rum uses homegrown honey from bees reared at the city’s Printworks to create a spirit with hints of orange, rhubarb and vanilla. Decorrum also adopt a bee for every bottle purchased to help give these prolific pollinators a boost.

Claire’s Handmade

The story of Claire’s Handmade began on the top of a Rayburn with a bag of plums and a recipe spanning the generations. When founder Claire Kent took the resulting Old Fashioned Plum Chutney to her local farmers’ market it soon became clear she had an instant classic on her hands. However, it was only the first of many more delectable jams, pickles and preserves to follow, which now sell all over the UK and beyond.
